CTF Rules

1. Introduction

Welcome to the GaianSpace CTF, a Jeopardy-style competition where teams of three will tackle challenges related to satellite technology and cybersecurity. This event runs from August 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM UTC to August 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM UTC, with registration closing on August 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM UTC.

2. Eligibility and Registration

Participants must be at least 18 years old or have parental consent to participate. The competition is open to individuals worldwide, subject to local laws and regulations. Teams must register via our website by the registration deadline, and it is your responsibility to ensure participation is legal in your jurisdiction.

3. Team Formation

Each team must consist of exactly three members. All team members must have unique accounts on our platform, and team names must be appropriate (no offensive or misleading names). Participants may not be part of multiple teams in this event.

4. Challenges and Scoring

Challenges are categorized (e.g., satellite communication, cybersecurity) and assigned point values based on difficulty. Teams earn points by submitting correct flags. The team with the highest score at the end wins. In case of a tie, the winner is determined by: (1) most challenges solved, (2) highest-value challenge solved first, then (3) earliest submission time.

5. Submission Process

Flags must be submitted through the designated platform and are case-sensitive. After an incorrect submission, there is a 5-minute cooldown before the next attempt for that challenge, with no additional penalties. Only one correct submission per challenge per team is counted.

6. Code of Conduct

Participants must adhere to the following:

  • No attacking or disrupting the CTF platform or infrastructure.
  • No sharing flags, solutions, or hints with other teams or non-participants.
  • No using automated tools to brute-force submissions.
  • Maintain respectful and inclusive behavior towards other participants and organizers.

Teams may use any private communication tools among themselves, but external assistance or collaboration outside the team is prohibited.

7. Disqualification

Teams may be disqualified for violating these rules, including but not limited to cheating, attacking the platform, harassment, or attempting to manipulate scores. GaianSpace’s decision on disqualification is final.

8. Prizes

The top three teams and the best write-up will receive the following prizes in SATS:

  • 1st Place: 150,000 SATS
  • 2nd Place: 100,000 SATS
  • 3rd Place: 50,000 SATS
  • Best Write-Up: 50,000 SATS (awarded to the team with the most detailed and insightful post-event write-up, as judged by GaianSpace)

Winners will also receive recognition on our website and social media channels. Prizes are subject to change at GaianSpace’s discretion, and participants are responsible for any applicable taxes.

9. Organizer’s Rights

GaianSpace reserves the right to modify these rules, challenges, or event schedule as needed. Participants will be notified of significant changes via email or on the official channels of GaianSpace. We may also disqualify teams or adjust scores to maintain fairness.
